After our son Rycker had open heart surgery, the only thing that would calm him down was the Mamaroo! After having a lot of trouble getting one while we were in the hospital we decided to start “ The Rycker Roo Project” to give a brand new mamaroo to every room in the Cardiac intensive care unit at Children’s hospital. We will be giving gently used Roos to families affected by CHD.
It’s our goal to launch this project on World Down syndrome day March 21st and deliver 21 Roos on that day. After the company that makes the Mamaroos 4moms heard about The Rycker Roo Project they wanted to help! So every Roo purchased for The Rycker Roo Project through their website will receive a 30% discount! We will be including the stories below of each heart hero that receives one of our gently used mamaroos. We have had 6 gently used mamaroos donated already and 4 brand new ones donated. Our goal is 21.
How can you help?
We would love your help! We are now taking donations through the Rycker’s Heart Heroes fundraising page for “The Rycker Roo Project”. So you have 2 options. Option 1. Donate to the fundraising page and comment for The Rycker Roo Project. Option 2 Purchase a Mamaroo through the 4moms website using our discount code and ship it to our address. Just message on FB @ryckerspage or Bridget Rohm or fill out a contact form to donate one.
How the Rycker Roo Project Started.
We can’t tell how much this project means to us ! Our son Rycker was in the hospital for 2 months after having complications from open heart surgery. We tried many things to ease his pain and calm him, but nothing worked! After trying for days to get a Mamaroo for him we finally did, and the Mamaroo was the only that would ease Ryckers pain and make him comfortable. I, being a heart mom, know how valuable that is, just the piece of mind that your baby isn’t in pain and is calm, can make all the difference in recovery. After realizing that the hospital only had a few mamaroos on the cardiac and stepdown floors, we knew we had to do something. In our time of despair, we knew we did not want others to feel the way we did. We have had so much support not only for Rycker but for this project! It’s our goal to provide that ease of mind for all heart heroes and heart moms after open heart surgery and during recovery!
